Working for Women
In March 2017, several members of the CSJ Justice and Peace International Commission attended the United Nations 2017 Commission on the Status of Women. The theme for the Commission was “Women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work.” In preparation for this meeting, we asked Sisters and Associates to send stories of how women were making a difference. In this article we have pulled out some key themes in the stories.
Sister Lyn Szymkiewicz encourages sustainability in Baden and beyond
Through the Earth Tones ministry, which focuses on reverence for the Earth, Sister Lyn (Baden) leads the Congregation’s conservation and sustainability efforts and also provides environmental education and outreach to students and community groups. The ministry’s apiary, community gardens, and egg-laying hens provide a tangible context for teaching sustainability and other important values.
UPDATE ON MISSION HAITI
March 2017 brought together sisters, associates, and Mission Haiti staff for another look at the Federation initiative to sponsor 10 girls from elementary through secondary school and beyond.

Pets With Heart Vists Students
In this YouTube video, Sister Sharon Costello and Sister Pat Montini and their therapy dogs, Buster and Luca, recently visited South Central Elementary School in Canonsburg, PA, to bring joy and laughter to third and fourth graders during PSSA testing.
