When human rights protections erode, it is always the vulnerable who suffer first and most. This fall, the CSSJ community is being invited to work for the integrity of our democratic process, that elections be not only free and fair but safe and functional.
Here are a few key ways to engage from wherever you are. Some can be done at home, others involve going to the polls. All benefit from your prayerful support!
See. Love. Vote. Send postcards to key districts to share 1) what you’re seeing in your community, 2) how you’re responding with love, and 3) why you’re voting in the 2026 midterm elections. You’ll receive postcards with a list of addresses, a few complimentary stamps to get you started, and some other goodies. Find the details here.

Train to be a Poll Chaplain. Faiths United to Save Democracy is seeking volunteers to serve as poll chaplains and peacekeepers. These are faithful leaders who can provide a calm, moral presence at polling sites and de-escalate potential conflict. Complete the steps below:
- First, click here to sign up for a virtual training on Sept 28th or Oct 15th.
- Second, sign up here for a conversation on Tuesday, October 27 at 2PM ET/1PM CT/11AM PT with experienced chaplains and blessing of CSSJ affiliated chaplains, election workers and peacekeepers. All are welcome, whether you are serving in this role or not.
- Third, sign up here for a debrief session on Thursday, November 5 at 12PM ET/11AM CT/9AM PT with other CSSJ chaplains and take further action if election outcomes are in threat.
Several sisters and JPIC leaders have been trained and will be available before and after Election Day to pray, prepare, and debrief with you!
